Veil of Maya is an American metal band formed in Chicago, Illinois, in 2004. They are known for their innovative approach to metalcore and progressive metal, often incorporating complex guitar work, varying time signatures, and harsh vocals. The band's lineup has seen changes over the years, with guitarist Marc Okubo being the only constant member since its inception. Veil of Maya gained recognition in the metal scene with their first full-length album, "All Things Set Aside, " released in 2006. They subsequently signed to Sumerian Records, where they released several albums that further established their presence in the genre. Their sound continued to evolve with each release, and they have toured extensively, both as headliners and as support for other prominent acts in the metal community.
