Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros are no ordinary band, that's for sure. The twelve-piece band began playing together around 2007 under the direction of frontman Alex Ebert, who performs on stage as his alter ego Edward Sharpe. They tour in a converted school bus with the band's logo. That's how their open-hearted anthems, which sounded at a time when cynicism and irony weren't yet prevalent themes in pop music, reach people. Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros celebrate Summer Of Love on their debut, the opulent psychedelic folk-rock accompanied by choruses is haunting, anthemic, adventurous and inspiring, in short: "Up From Below" is a masterful debut. The rave reports coming in from the US about their concerts are overwhelmingly emotional and often leave a sea of tears of joy in their wake.

The group is known for their eclectic sound, blending elements of folk, gospel, rock, and psychedelic music. The band was created by lead vocalist Alex Ebert, who adopted the persona of Edward Sharpe as a messianic figure. Their debut album "Up From Below, " released in 2009, included the hit single "Home, " which gained widespread acclaim and became synonymous with the band's image of communal joy and togetherness.
